We are so lucky to live on Vashon, where farmers work hard to grow great vegetables and fruits for us. In this early part of the summer, we are particularly lucky to have Bernie O'Malley, who brings produce from eastern Washington every week to sell in front of The Hardware Store.
Cherries! Cucumbers! Radishes! Apricots!
This weekend, we are throwing a 4-course dinner in honor of Bernie's work, with all produce from the dinner from his farmstead. Chef Jacob Wiegner, formerly of Blackboard Bistro in West Seattle, has created a enticing menu for the evening.
Curried radish bruschetta with herbs and microgreens
Savory Walla Walla onion and cherry clafoutis with tarragon, and pickled vegetables
Seared salmon (or halibut, depending on the market)
Minted mushy peas
Baked apricots with goat cheese mousse and almond crumble
This delightful dinner will have wine pairings. And some cooking instruction on certain parts of the dinner.
So come out to honor Bernie and the farms he works with to bring us our food.
