Chef Nathan is a self-confessed vintage cast iron “collector”, read: “hoarder”. Join us on this early Fall night to unlock the potential of your underused cast iron kicking around your home (or well used and beloved family heirloom) - let’s roast, sautee, toast, sizzle, and crumble!

Utilizing the fewest number of ingredients possible, showcasing the individual flavors in our excellent local products, Chef Nathan will guide the evening, giving you the knowledge so that you can use your own cast iron confidently at home, in manifold ways! Additionally, Nathan will give us a demonstration of how to best season, cure, and clean cast iron.

As a special feature of the evening, we will be pouring two of Vashon’s own Nashi Ciders, Idyll Acres and Royal Cider to pair with our cast iron creations. Idyll Acres Bittersweet Cider is a traditional dry cider - think well balanced with soft tannins - and was just awarded Best in Class for Traditional Cider at GLINTCAP, the largest cider and perry competition in the world.

Royal Cider is a fortified Manchurian Crabapple cider fortified with our cider brandy and aged in French oak for almost two years. This cider is finished with Kingston Black apple juice just before bottling. Pairing well with cheese and desserts, it is a lovely dry note in our flavor-packed evening. We feel particularly lucky here at Relish as Nashi’s Royal Cider is only available on Vashon - not to be missed.
